80831 2002-09-18 22:41:00 Last christmas I got tricked by Trend Micro to uninstall my Pc-cillin and download a new version of Pc-cillin 2002. They then wanted to charge me for the service and their support was next to non existant over a month so I uninstalled it and now use AVG. The nuisance factor that was left and I can not get rid off is if I right click a file and open properties, under virus properies there is a pc-cillin window and a message saying pc-cillin is not activated and a button with launch on it. This really bugs me to have this on my pc after uninstalling their product. I tried Reg Cleaner and searching for the offending file that could execute this but have drawn a blank. Must be something in the registry to get rid of this annoyance. Any ideas?
Windows Me.

80832 2002-09-19 10:14:00 There is instructions of how to manually remove Pc-cillin 2000 at Trend Micro Tech support page (solutionbank.antivirus.com). Could not find anything on 2002 so this may or may not help.

The instructions involve a registry hack so check out this FAQ (pressf1.co.nz) first on how to back up the registry.

80833 2002-09-19 11:26:00 Hi,
I had trouble removing PC cillin which was only a 30 day trial that was on the computer when we got it. I installed Add Remove 2002 another 30 trial programme & it removed all traces of PC cillin & other stuff that the usual Add Remove couldn't. Get it by using Google & type in add remove 2002.

80834 2002-09-19 11:51:00 Thanks Jen, I found one registry key via the support site and deleated it but to no avail. And Pauline, my Pc-cillin was only a 30 day trial as well (they didn't make this clear when they told me to uninstall my original version) and I downloaded Add Remove 2002 bit it shows no trace of any Pc-cillin.
Thanks anyway, looks like I'm stuck with the damn thing :(

80835 2002-09-19 11:58:00 I find it strange you had such problems, I got PC-Cillin 2000 with my PC with a 6month subscription or something like that. It sent an email saying time was up at the 6 month mark, to pay for more updates etc. But nothing ever happened, and I've recieved normal updates ever since. Never tried uninstalling, but why would I since it's running for free!
This post didn't help now I think about it..Interesting story for me though.
