80864 2002-09-19 00:15:00 Morning all,

Looking for some info. My company is looking at shifting ISP's. We are currently using Xtra's framerelay but are looking at upgrading (or degrading?) to "ThePacific.net". Has anybody had any experience with them, what are they like? Any comments either constructive or destructive would be nice.

Our network consists of 40 odd machines and uses Win2000prof.

Cheers

80865 2002-09-19 01:53:00 What are you using frame relay for? Not internet access?
If you are, then I guess the obvious answer is Jetstream (if you're in the area).
If you aren't, and are using it for connection to other companies, then Jetstream and a VPN is worth a try.
Post more info.

80866 2002-09-19 21:37:00 Tried finding out some more. By the sounds of it, it is Xtras Framerelay with Internet Access (if that makes sense).

ThePacific.net is a Nelson based ISP if anybody has used them I would be interested in your thoughts.

Another thing, another option we do have is changing to Xtras Jetstream which is going to be available here soon and using "Secure Business Internet", what are peoples comments on this?

Cheers

80867 2002-09-19 21:44:00 I've looked into it and it looks pretty good. The secure business link was for linking two businesses, I thought, rather than for internet connection.

80868 2002-09-19 22:26:00 From the guy at Xtra said, SBI is a service that provide high speed internet but rather than a standard Jetstream line they include mail filters and virus protection etc at their end rather than ours which is supposed to minimise unwanted traffic and therefore keeps costs low, does that sound right? ?:|

It will be a lot cheaper than our current connection anyhow so I guess that will be a bonus!
