80858 2002-09-18 23:37:00 USB-to-USB Data Transfer Cable , Belkin USB Direct Connect. One cost about $12 and the latter of the two cost $165 why the big difference? Is one only good for data transfer. Ron Bakker (356)
80859 2002-09-18 23:51:00 Looks like the Belkin consists of 2 cables a USB network hub, and software. It appears to be a full networking solution for a peer to peer connection, vs the other solution which is just the ability to transfer files. godfather (25)

80861 2002-10-08 09:01:00 Hi

Where can I buy the $12 cable? I just want to transfer files between a laptop and desk top machine.

Thanks

80862 2003-10-05 12:29:00 And just to up the ante a little.......
I want to transfer data from an iPAQ 1940 to/from a 'thumbdrive' (or solid state drive I think it's really called!! ;-) )
The iPAQ 1940 has a cable that connects to a computer via USB and so does the 'thumbdrive' (SSD).
So would I just need to get a USB socket to socket adapter?

Regards,

PS I'll be putting another post here on it's own, but came accross thia one and thought I'd butt in!!! :D

80863 2003-10-05 20:34:00 Godfather is right
The Belkin has an ethernet adapter, and I use mine to network two HP computers, one of which hasn't got a LAN card
