80821 2002-09-18 22:20:00 Hi . I was hoping someone could help me with a few problems...
1: My i.e. dosn't seem to use saved images etc from sites I have visited. This is most noticeable with animated GIF's and flash movies, where it re-loads them each time I visit.
2: I have a poor connection :(. Often a page will fail to load and it then goes to msn search, searching for the url of the page that has failed to load. I wish to stop this :)
3: The speed of my keyboard seems to be reset at times
Specs : intel Celeron/900mhz/128ram/e-machine/56k
MANY THANKS TO ANYONE ABLE TO HELP

80825 2002-09-18 23:12:00 I need to know the modem type.
Double-click on My Computer, then double-click on Dial-Up Networking.
If you can't find Dialup networking look in Control panels.
Right-click on the ISP connection and choose Properties.
At the bottom Connect using advise what is in this box.

80827 2002-09-19 00:02:00 OK try this, it slows you modem to 33k but you will find it will give a more stable connection and your downloads should be faster and web sites will load better.

Double-click on My Computer, then double-click on Dial-Up Networking.
Right-click on the ISP icon and choose Properties.
Click the Configure button.
Change maximum speed to 38.400
Click the Connection tab.
Click Advanced at the bottom.

In "Extra settings box , enter the string. +MS=V34
Click OK, OK again and OK again
Restart the computer to activate the changes.

80828 2002-09-19 00:20:00 I would bet you are using Xtra. Xtra users often have problems with pages that return 'could not find server' but pressing the refresh button makes it work again. I don't know if it's their DNS server or their Transparent Proxy at fault. You also see pages with graphics missing but a refresh will repopulate the page correctly. BIFF (1)
80829 2002-09-19 00:22:00 Question 1

Try doing a bit of housekeeping on IE

With Internet Explorer open select Tools/Internet Options

Temporary Internet files: Select Delete Files
Put a tick in the box "Delete all offline content"
Click on OK

History: click on Clear History

80830 2002-09-19 01:10:00 If you haven't updated your winmodem drivers in a while head over to Conexant (www.conexant.com) and grab a copy of the generic drivers (the instructions are the notepad icon beside the download link).

The new drivers should help to improve your connection, hopefully without having to limit it to 33.6k.
