Sisoft Sandra, will give more accurate results, however pcpitstop has identified problems that Sandra would pick up also.

Check to make sure DMA is enabled on your harddrives. If i remember right you are running WINXP which means it is probably enabled anyway.

If your IE cache is too big it can cause a slow down when your on the web. Shrink it down to about 10Mb

WinXP is designed to run on a min of 128Mb ram. You are running on less than this because of an onboard Video card. We can suggest many recommendations to tweak your system to get certain parts working more efficiently, however you are always gonna be slowed down by your lack of RAM. You need to talk to a technician about what RAM is compaitible for you.

81549 2002-09-24 08:51:00 You could try changing some of Nortons virus scanner options. Maybe it is eating a few too many cpu cycles. Also see what programs are running in the background (ctrl-alt-delete and check task manager). Again one might be grabbing too much cpu. I'm not sure adding more memory would have the desired effect. True XP (it was XP wasn't it) likes at least 256MB of RAM but if you were happy with its initial performance.

Good luck.
