81905 2002-09-22 02:56:00 When I click on 'paint' in programmes I get 'Hyper Terminal' and no way can I bring up 'paint'. Any ideas? Charlie. Charlie (1982)

A bit confusing, in what "programmes" do you / can you click on "paint"?

Or do you mean when you are in explorer and you select "paint" it brings up hyperterminal?

What operating system?

81907 2002-09-22 07:02:00 Go to your Paint in Programs, right click on it and choose Properties.

In the Target box paste in the following:

"C:\Program Files\Accessories\MSPAINT.EXE"

If your MSPAINT is in another location, change the above to suit.

Click OK and see if it works this time. Post your results back here.

81909 2002-09-22 22:54:00 Thank you Susan B. I did as you suggested and was told that name 'programme etc specified in Target Box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct. The Paint icon is a monitor and a telephone. Surely that is not right? What is going on here? Your help is appreciated. Charlie. Charlie (1982)
81910 2002-09-22 23:01:00 Thanks Godfather. I apologise. The heading is incorrect. I mean that when I click on Paint - programmes, accessories, paint- I get hyperterminal. Forget Word Pad, I'm stupid. I have heard from Susan B as you can see. Thanks for your interest. I run ME. Charlie. Charlie (1982)
81911 2002-09-22 23:09:00 Well the icon definitely isn't the correct one for Paint!

Try this:

Go to Start>Find>Files or Folders and in the Named box type in mspaint then press Enter .

You will (hopefully) get a list of mspaint items, look for the one that says mspaint . exe and alongside that will be the "path" which should look something like C:\Program Files\Accessories as I told you before . Yours is obviously different so if it is go back to the Paint icon and right click it as before and type in what it should be, as it is in the Find box .

You can leave that Find window open (move it out of the way so you can see it) whilst doing the above so that you can copy it .

If, by any chance you cannot find mspaint then you do not have it installed on your system . If this is the case it will need to be installed .

Post back here with your results again . :-)

81912 2002-09-23 23:35:00 Thanks for your determination to help Susan. That Icon is the hyperterminal one, the same as Accessories\communications\hyperterminal, and brings up the same result. In the Search window I have mspaint.chm, cnt, hlp, chw and gid - no exe. Clicking on either one of the five shows windows\help folder. It is apparent that I have lost the programme, I think. Would I have it on one of my CDs and if so, which one? I could reinstall it perhaps or could I have it sent to me as an attachment from another PC? Charlie Charlie (1982)

I can be worse than a dog with a bone sometimes! LOL :D

It looks like Paint has disappeared somehow .

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Windows Setup and when it stops searching for components choose Accessories > Details > Paint > OK > OK .

It may ask you for your Windows OS CD if it needs one so make sure it's handy .

Hopefully that will do the trick and you'll get Paint back again .

81914 2002-10-02 04:59:00 Susan B, I have just returned from a break, and have tried without success. I don't know which CD has Windows. Why the blazes aren't they marked? Don't drop me now, please. Charlie. Charlie (1982)
