82153 2002-09-22 23:29:00 Running W95, IE5, some web sites do not connect. tracert.exe indicates that the target is reached, but there is no connection.
Any clues?

82156 2002-09-23 10:31:00 I had this problem very recently. All attempts by ISP helpdesk to get me back on failed.
What I did was to restore the system files from a recent backup I had created and bingo! my old icon for the dial-up was back and I was connected again.
Hope this helps.

82157 2002-09-23 10:53:00 Check Control Panel/Network
Make sure there is only one TCP/IP and Dialup Adapter installed

Suggest delete your ISP Dialup connection and set up a new one
After you have done this Select properties and Server types
Remove tick from Logon to network, NetBeui and IPX

With IE open select Tools/Internet options

Temporary Internet files: Select Delete Files
Put a tick in the box "Delete all offline content"
Click on OK

History: click on Clear History

Click on Connections tab at the top
Make sure your ISP is showing as the default.
Make sure "always dial my default connection" has the dot in it.
Click Apply

Click on Settings.(Under Add/Remove)
Remove the tick from any boxes on this page, especially Proxy server.
Click Okay

Click on the Advanced tab at the top
Click on Restore Defaults at the bottom
