| 1315029 | 2012-12-02 06:56:00 | Yup Win8 Pro. My USB 3.0 port has never had this issue, it's only the USB2.0 ports, and even then it's usually only one of the controllers and not both. Me too. It's only the USB2.0 ports - but the front USB2 ports are OK, though. There seems quite a few people with Asus MB are having this problem. After uninstalling update KB2756872 seems to fix the problem, but ..... this shouldn't be the correct way to fix a bug. Who is to be blamed, Asus or MS? :D |

Patches come out all the time. There is no way MS can predict what's needed for every piece of hardware thats available. Some people may have a certain piece of hardware, and have problems, others have the same and don't. None of the Asus MB's we have or ones I have built have had driver problems with W8. Just like theres no way the hardware manufactures can supply drivers for every possible bug in the system for any given OS. Normally people only go back to the manufactures site to download new drivers if theres something wrong. Of course manufactures put out updated drivers that fix faults, improve performance, or sometimes new features. Its all part of owning a computer-- Its called maintenance. :) |

| 1315031 | 2012-12-08 20:57:00 | It looks like that missing entry has something to do with [Intel] ;CougarPoint USB. There's an SP file on the HP site (h10025.www1.hp.com), that may install something for it. Even tho its not for Win8, its for Win7 32/64 bit... Extract the file (with something like 7zip / winrar), from the HP site then go to device manager dbl click on that entry in device manager / driver tab / update driver, point it to that folder in the pic. See if it loads the drivers for that missing entry The entry in the inf file is %PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C26.DeviceDesc%=INTEL_USB2_2K,PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C26. This should (hopefully) be the same as one of the hardware ID's (if you dbl click on the entry in device manager, click on the details tab, and change it to hardware ids) |

| 1315032 | 2012-12-09 02:02:00 | It could also be a bios setting. Disable the USB Legacy devices setting in the bios and it should stop it from happening. Did this on my laptop about a week ago and it hasnt happened again. |
