1290521 2012-07-24 09:36:00 I've still got a 60gb one, though I don't play it much atm.
I don't recommend getting the 4gb ones without buying the extra HDD for them, they're either 250gb or 320gb, which should be enough since we don't get things like netflix and all the apps americans get.

The suggestion is we'll see a new one next year or something, but at the price point they're at now you can't really go wrong. Plus they're yet to release Halo4 which should be pretty good.

I suggest you ignore kinect though. For the most part, it's a gimmicky bugger of a thing, and people feel awkward using it. (see here:penny-arcade.com) and check the videos, in particular, 'kinect disconnect'.

If you get one with a sensor cheap enough, fine. If you can get one without it and save a bit of money, go for that. Mightyape can do you good deals on games when they have sales too.

1290524 2012-07-24 09:41:00 I was severely disappointed with my new purchase when I discovered I couldn't store any of my media on my xbox, Imo it makes the large harddrive pointless.

250 Gb that I would have to fill with purchases from xbox live?

Hell no.

Got kids?

Had a room full of 8 year olds almost destroy my house a couple days ago playing Kinect Star Wars. Judging from the amount of noise they made they enjoyed it.

Of course, They also make a huge amount wrestling on the trampoline.....

1290527 2012-07-24 09:48:00 I've got the same Xbox as you 8ft. But, with the Kinect. Havent had any probs with the Kinect YET. Only game I've used it for is Forza 4 and the Adventures game. Only other thing I would use the Kinect for would be video for Skype when its out, and Party invites. I use it more as a media centre / player than playing games on it. I just convert everything to MP4. I think I'll get a wireless adapter for it soon. If this replacement modem/router doesnt stuff up Speedy Gonzales (78)

I don't allow my kids online access with the xbox.

I had intended to store all my music and a selection of movies on my xbox, It simply doesn't allow the transfer of this sort of media to the xbox, You can rip cd's but that's about all, But I'm not about to rip my entire cd collection a second time.

Well no, it doesnt have to go online, but if you use / or like Facebook, and Youtube (you have to pay for both). It needs to be online to do it. And Skype (which isnt available YET). But, will be in the near future. Thats what I use it for sometimes (FB, Youtube, and Vevo). At least its a lot cheaper than buying a TV with these features on it

1290530 2012-07-24 09:56:00 It's more for storing downloaded TV in the US and generally installing games to the harddrive to save the DVD drive (still need the disc but the disc isn't used to play the game)

It's not 'essential' to be online, I've still got 1 month free of Xbox live from 2009, but it does make things more interesting being able to play with others.
I haven't ever been able to justify use of live myself since I haven't had enough games that I play online.
