1290511 2012-07-24 07:21:00 Ok i have lots of questions,

My son wants one for his birthday............ we are looking at options....... share $$.

What size should i go for? and what things do i need to know before i buy?

I presume it comes with one controller, and no games? unless you get a bundle special.
Up till now we have been tried and true play station family. we have recently been introduced to xbox...

Help please....

1290512 2012-07-24 07:28:00 Just buy whatever is cheapest. I wouldn't recommend spending up large on a 7 year old piece of hardware. With an xbox you generally get: 1 Controller with 2xAA batteries, headset and depending on where you buy it from you might get a bundled game too. The come in 4gb or 120?gb models. You can upgrade the harddrive though. I would recommend buying a plug and play kit, the controller just chews threw the AA batteries, rechargeable packs are basically a must. Just dont buy a $30+ one. Oh and microsoft wants you to pay to play online as well (unlike sony). icow (15313)

I have two older style xbox's I'm getting rid of, a heap of games, a MS wireless steering wheel, 2 of those plastic guitars, a set of drums, a microphone....

1290514 2012-07-24 08:48:00 I'd avoid the 4GB ones, simply because 4GB is bugger all and it's not a significant price difference to jump to the 250GB. Not convinced the 320GB is worth the extra $$, they seem to be about $100 - $120 more than the 250. inphinity (7274)

1290516 2012-07-24 09:06:00 Agree that 4GB is nothing. Gold accounts are ridiculously expensive, so I hope he doesn't want to play online.
I have found the Xbox Live Arcade has a lot of really good games (and usually at a reasonable price), but a young male is probably only interested in Call of Duty & similar games.

1290518 2012-07-24 09:19:00 To be honest I wouldn't recommend a used xbox, notoriously unreliable. So forget I mentioned it.

I just bought myself the 250GB version with 3 games for $380.

1290520 2012-07-24 09:31:00 You can get an Xbox with 2 games + 3 mths Xbox live for $399 at Dick Smith. (www.dicksmith.co.nz) And yup, I wouldnt get one 2nd hand. In case its been banned from anyone playing it online. Then, you'll have to spend more $ to get another Xbox Speedy Gonzales (78)
