1290470 2012-07-24 08:45:00 There's a major difference in terms of public interest between a truck that had a tire blowout & crashed, and some lunatic who went and shot up a movie theatre. Whether they were illegal immigrants or not is irrelevant. inphinity (7274)
1290471 2012-07-24 22:26:00 So a "news" event takes precedent? Zippity (58)
1290472 2012-07-24 23:19:00 The crazier the better. From news point of view. rob_on_guitar (4196)

Yes, and welcome to the real world.
Its all about viewer ratings.

Is a single bus crash more relevant than thousands of deaths from civil wars, starvation & disease.
Is it more important when 13 die in one accident, rather than hundreds dieing in individual car accidents every day ?
Do we measure newsworthiness only the numbers of deaths involved ??
Is a sports event or a royal marriage newsworthy ?? Not to me but it is to millions of others.
