82835 2002-09-25 01:12:00 A new worm that attacks Linux Web servers has compromised more than 3,500 machines, creating a rogue peer-to-peer network that has been used to attack other computers with a flood of data, security experts said Saturday.

Read it here (zdnet.com.com) (ZDNet News) and also here (securityresponse.symantec.com) (Symantec).

82836 2002-09-25 02:32:00 Well that might explain a few things.

That combined with the holidays could be why the internet is really damned slow at the moment.

82837 2002-09-25 02:40:00 It only gets those who haven't kept uptodate with the security upgrades . 3500 is a very small number compared to the total number of Linux servers .

I bet it hasn't affected candy ;-)

Any speed problems will be related to the holidays . Also, the US academic year will be well underway by now, and the new students will be busily exploiting their fast network access . They might have something to do with other problems too .
