82476 2002-09-25 04:20:00 The BIOS will hide this away from the first page. It will probably be in the second or third page. The entry will be close to the LPT parallel port one. It's normally called "serial ports" , with a line for each and will change (with PgUp/PgDn or whatever) from "Disabled" to something like "2f8, IRQ3" for the COM2 entry. It might allow other values, but those are the defaults for COM2. Graham L (2)
82477 2002-09-25 05:42:00 The casio is a BOSS SF-6700SY and has PC Sync software called FA-128 ver1.1.
I downloaded their PC Sync upgrade this morning from http://casio.monacocorp.co.nz, but it only upgrades from ver 2.0 onwards up to ver 3.0

I'm off now to look in the bios again to see if I missed something...on the advanced page

still no response from casio but it does say that they endeavor to reply on the next day, so I can afford to be optimistic for a bit longer!

82478 2002-09-25 06:19:00 I've just had a look at that site ... there is a download of version 2.4, which that upgrade will improve to version 3 ;-)

But the other stuff there doesn't mention XP ... 95, 98, 2000 ...

82479 2002-09-25 06:44:00 I'm back!
I must be looking in the wrong place or something (i'm pressing F1 at start up) but there's no sign of ports or serials there.

How would I find the hidden 2nd or 3rd page?

I've just downloaded that 2.4 file but that one is for a pocket viewer as opposed to a pocket organiser and my one isn't supported.
I still had the same error though, with the serial port

I wonder if I should bug Hp about it?

82480 2002-09-25 06:48:00 Trevo,

Can you post the specifics of your HP computer - model name/number etc. So we can help you with the bios info.

Babe.

82481 2002-09-25 07:02:00 I've just used http://google.co.nz , and "hp bios setup" found a little bit: F1 gives you setup, right?
Then "Advanced" gets to some choices. Then "I/O Device Configuration ", or "Integrated Peripherals" (according to model) should get you to about the right place. (This posting was about changing settings for LPR1, and the COM ports will be evry close to that).

82482 2002-09-25 07:15:00 this is the comp specs :-www.hp.com

and I think this is the motherboard info :-
www.hp.com

(I hope these links work)

I've just been browsing (for a change!) and have found 2 different after market software progs for my model, both costing far too much, since casio should have fixed it...

82483 2002-09-25 07:46:00 I don't see anything like that in advanced.. next time I go there i'll write it all down, but the options are all very limited for each of the 7 or so changeable settings and they don't seem to go to another screen just enable or disable Trev O (452)
82484 2002-09-25 21:01:00 These are the configerable options that are under Advanced in the bios, greham:-

plug and play
reset config data
onboard vid mem
def pri vid adaptor
ps/2 mouse
local bus ide
legacy usb sup
onboard lan

I haven't changed anything to see what happens, just incase I don't like the result!!

82485 2002-09-26 04:36:00 Mmm. It's probably worth putting SiSoft or one of the other "what is in my system?" programmes on, and seeing what is there. You might find that on a PC World CD (or download from the site) or on tucows. Graham L (2)
