83384 2002-09-26 01:55:00 i noticed in the bottom ½ of the kazaalite screen, along with files, upload speeds, usernames etc, there is a participation rating for the recipiant such as "low(0)" does anyone know what this means?

Full Kazaa users might be able to find this in the help files, these are blocked in kazaa lite.

83385 2002-09-26 04:21:00 I think that ppl who have a higher "participation" rating get bumped up queues - saw something to that effect in a link off one of tweake's news posts the other day. antmannz (28)
83386 2002-09-26 04:25:00 Think it may have something to do with the amount of files you have available to share Chris....... mine is very low at the moment as I have just put most of my mp3s onto CD.....

Ah you switched the light on there antmannz...... I think this relates to cable or Jetstream users. No way am I going to allow "unlimited' down/uploads with my dial-up connection.

83388 2002-09-26 07:26:00 OK, Kazaa remembers your ratio of uploads to downloads. the lower the ratio ie less uploads compared to donloads (ie you are "leeching off other users without contributing yourself), the poorer your participation rating.

Whilst most people are still using the old version of Kazaa this isn't a prob, but once everyon moves to the new version it has an effect.

Those with a poor rating sit further down download queues than those with higher ratings instead of the current first come, first served basis.

There is apparently a crack available to bump your rating, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

83389 2002-09-26 10:10:00 I know i give more than i take... so my rating is no problem!

The ratings of others may effect if i stay online to let someone finish something, now i know it means what i thought it might.
