83270 2002-09-26 00:20:00 I have tried to connect to the internet in linux, but after I hear it dialing up, this thing pops up and says somthing like "the ppp daemon has died unexpectedly". Whats wrong? forrest44 (754)
83271 2002-09-26 02:53:00 I had a similar problem some time back, which took months to sort out as i couldn't find any info to help at the time and was just trail and error... but i did end up getting it to work. Take a look at the below doc i done...

I think that it probably may have something to do with init strings, so try that first....

Don't forget that you have documentation on your own machine ... the PPP HOWTO, man pppd ...

83273 2002-09-26 21:26:00 This is a common problem, which can usually be put down to an authentication problem. If you are using Gnome-PPP, try KPPP instead. The latter seems to be far more reliable (and easier to configure).

For some clues, have a look at your /var/log/messages file. Post the relevant part here if you find something suspicious in there but don't know how to follow it up.
