2002-09-25 07:18:00 | Any suggestions as to why Me is not showing my brand new 20Gb Maxtor slave HD? Jumpers are set to slave, Bios is correct .. sits at mid-cable position on Primary IDE. I have CD-r and CD on sec IDE. Thanx Gerard

I have never had probs installing drives, so I have no experience in fixing them. Someone else may be able to help you better, but check the cables first. No amount of BIOS fiddling will fix the prob if it is just a loose cable. G P |

2002-09-25 07:44:00 | Whats the set up on the "master" disk? | Chris Wilson (431) | |
2002-09-25 07:55:00 | Sorry, what do you mean 'the setup'? The jumpers? They are set to master. or do you mean the bios description? | Gerard (1730) | |
2002-09-25 08:09:00 | i meant the jumpers, and seeing they are set to "master" then i have no idea why it won't work! :( | Chris Wilson (431) | |
2002-09-25 08:14:00 | When you say WinME can't see the drive you have fdisk'd and formatted partition(s) on the new new drive then? Babe.

2002-09-25 10:57:00 | Gerard, Another point is it 'seen' in the BIOS, Also in the BIOS have you set the secondary master to auto ? Babe.

2002-09-25 11:16:00 | Yes, I was thinking that too. Does your BIOS have an auto-detect option? If so, try it. It should 'see' the drive and set the options automatically. | Rod J (451) | |
