83150 2002-09-26 02:06:00 A friend of mine had problems getting to the Westpac site on my set up too. By memory it worked ok in Netscape, and evenIE...

It's a bit of a pain though i must admit. Write to them and complain, here we are, in possibly the most technologically advanced country (literacy per head) and a bank forces us to use microcrap products through poor coding. Opera doesnt read crap, i assume that is one of the reasons it is fast, and undemanding.

Chris.

83151 2002-09-26 02:09:00 well i get that error when opera id's itself as opera but not if it id's itself as mozilla or msie.

go to www.gemal.dk and see what the user agent is.

83152 2002-09-26 02:14:00 I have been trying out a few things with my Mac version of Opera but I imagine the Win version preferences would be similar.
I can duplicate the problem and here is how to prevent that error appearing.

Edit/Preferences
Select Network from the list on the left
Under Browser Identification click on the arrow and select Identify as MSIE 5.0
or whatever version of IE is showing
Click Apply and OK

I get the error with Opera selected here but not with IE

83153 2002-09-26 02:26:00 Well jim,
It would appear that the banks webserver is run by prats!

Go on Colon, write to them!

83155 2002-09-26 04:23:00 my normall way is to use opera id'ed as opera for most sites and for any sites that won't display correctly i use IE.

or if you don't have IE, you could just F12 and change the id to mozilla or IE.

83156 2002-09-26 05:59:00 They are basically writing a different page for each browser, rather than standards and locking out anything they haven't bothered codeing for.

Including googlebot (216.239.35.100)

83157 2002-09-26 06:14:00 Hi ya tweak'e

Thanks for that bit of info, was having the same probs as colin.

Pressing F12 and changing the id to mozilla or IE worked for me.

Didn't know I could do that.

Cheers merlin-nz ;)

83158 2002-09-26 11:22:00 BNZ works with Opera if you disable Java. Otherwise it screws up the dates when trying to do transactions. Rod ger (316)
83159 2002-09-26 11:27:00 is it just me or does it seem the banks don't seem to stick to internet standards ?:| tweak'e (174)
