83698 2002-09-27 07:26:00 Isnt your Win2k CD bootable? godfather (25)
83699 2002-09-27 08:28:00 you should also look at your video driver in winxp and download one for w2k from your laptops manufacturers website - same for network card if present Marty2001 (421)
83700 2002-09-27 22:36:00 Why not just boot from your Win2K CD and format from the Win2K installation?

Or Boot from your XP CD, hit "R" to enter Recovery mode (I think that's what it's called), type in your password, and format c: from there, then install Win2K from there (I have no idea if that method will work - I'm guessing probably not :))

If you've got a Win2K disc, once you're ready, simply put in the disc and restart, it'll come up with
Press any key to boot from CD..
And slowly the dots will increase, just hit enter.
I take it you're not gonna need 3rd party scsi or raid drivers, so when it's done its thing, tell it you're gonna format the partition by pressing d.
press enter to confirm and then L to delete it.
Press enter and it'll ask you what you want to format the unpartitioned space with, Fat32 or NTFS.

If youre gonna use DOS mode for some wierd reason, go with FAT32, but otherwise, your best bet is NTFS.

It'll format and do everything from there, apart from restoring backups of your progs (You can do that.... :)) and make sure you keep your driver disc, just in case..

83702 2002-09-30 00:22:00 If you really want to make a Windows Starup disk boot from CD you can use Easy CD Creator( Deluxe Version only, I think).

1.Prepare a bootable floppy disk with the necessary files on it, such as:

2.Start Easy CD Creator Deluxe.

3.On the CD Layout properties, select the Data Settings Tab.

4.Click on the Bootable box and make sure the File system is set to ISO9660.
(anything else is not possible, btw.)

5. Click on OK when you're done. The system will ask you to put
the bootable floppy (= image) into the floppydrive A.
As shown below.

6. Once you've clicked on OK, Easy CD Creator (ECDC) will
read the floppy and automatically creates an image.
This image needs no patching..

7. Now you can Drag-and-Drop the files you want to have, into the file list
by using the built-in explorer or with the standard Windows Explorer.

8. Change also the label of the disk, if you want.

9. The last step is to Record the disk and you're ready.
