Hi All,
Finally got around to loading w2k pro onto my second (or third) machine. This machine with existing hardware never showed the same problem as it does now when it had win 98se installed, m/board is a gigabyte GA-6VEM-L, CPU is Celeron 1.0Ghz, modem is a speedcom (conexant) hardware HCF V90 56 speakerphone, dialup and data transfer is good the problem occurs when I disconnect and the machine stops doing anything for a good 30+ seconds, sometimes after that the icon stays on in the taskbar, picking up the phone shows that the line is clear and I can use the phone normaly. Task manager shows nothing unusual running. Has anyone struck this before?? I feel a need of a different modem might be in order as the main machine also runs w2k pro with a different modem installed. I know I can just swap them to try, but I was hoping a cure for this was out there so I wouldn't have to buy a new modem. |
