83985 2002-09-28 03:59:00 Okay, a strange question, but rather than re-inventing the wheel, I thought I'd get a bit of feedback from the 'Exalted Ones' here. ;-)

I'm setting up some Message Rules for Mail in OE6 and was trying to put together a list of potential words to block.

Obviously, most of you guys have done this, but what words do you use to block spam? I'm sure there'll be ones I haven't though of, so it would be good to add to my list.

Any lists, most appreciated. I'm sure others would also be interested.

83986 2002-09-28 04:08:00 sorry, forgot to add the list I have so far:

casino
loan
lottery
sex
deal

that's about it for now, still trying to troll through my head to remember past spam to grab words from... it hurts! :_|

83988 2002-09-28 05:25:00 Sharkey,

Why not just use a free program like MailWasher available from MW_Download (www.mailwasher.net) and also download an example filter for it from MW_Filter (www.mailwasher.net).

83989 2002-09-28 05:42:00 will do Babe Ruth, thanx for that . . .

. . . however, reading their FAQ's, it works with the default email client . In my case, my better 5% (he-who-must-be-obeyed), uses his work Notes client as the default on our machine, and I use OE6 for our personal email accounts (Xtra & ClearNet) - do you know if MailWasher has the potential to screw with Notes network connection/settings???

At this point, I'll download it and wait till tomorrow when HWMBO, does a ghost backup, before installing .

I was still kinda' hoping I could use the filter in OE6 to block some of the spam .

Thanx for your help . . .

83990 2002-09-28 06:20:00 Sharkey,

Mailwasher sits in between your mail program and your isp. it doesn't 'mess' with any network client setups at all - not that I know of. Have a look at this Manual (www.mailwasher.net) for plenty of info.

83991 2002-09-28 11:07:00 the way i do it is send the result of my rule to my deleted items, that way i don't miss any of the jokes that my mates may send me.
if you right click on deleted items you can delete all of them at once, without having to open any of them.
the words that i use are all of the swear words that i can think of and then just add to the rule as you go.
