2002-09-28 03:58:00 | Hi Team When opening F1 I see an ad from Advantage for an internal 40/12/40 CD-RW for just $169. Now I know nothing about CD-RW as yet, but with the weight of the F1 team behind me I'm about to take a leap of faith and give it a go. Is the advertised Sony any good and does it come with acceptable software? Is there anything else I should know about this deal before taking the plunge? Cheers Billy 8-{)

2002-09-28 04:10:00 | Hi Billy, From what I have heard the Sony is a pretty good unit..... My puter came with a LG/Goldstar which I have hammered and has never missed a beat. Asfar as software goes, most of them come with Easy CD Creator or similar - although Nero seems to get the thumbs up, more than any other software on this forum. BALDY:-)

2002-09-28 07:19:00 | Hiya Billy, Whatever writer you get, make sure it comes with Nero. I like it and from what everyone else here says, it's the one to go for. Don't buy a writer that doesn't have it. :-) You'll be going eenie-meenie-mynie-mo unless the price is a big factor because there seem to be only a few brands to stay away from. Chris W mentioned one not long ago, the Acer which has been rebranded to some other funny name. I've got a Lite-On 24/10/40 and it's great. Doesn't need to be any faster because I burn the MP3s to audio at 8x and burning other data takes only a few minutes.

2002-09-28 07:33:00 | Okay =JM= I followed the links you provided way back and found a picture and price for the 4kus at Inhouse Computers, but when I went back in to their website from their home page it was no longer listed on their IDE CD/DVD page. It looks like the link was accessing old product information. Does anybody know of another local source for 4kus, or whether Inhouse stiil have them. Cheers Billy 8-{)

2002-09-28 08:02:00 | Hi Billy, I bought the Sony CDRW advertised here, and have had no problems at all with it. It doesn't come with Nero, but the software it does come with (I think it's called NTI CD Pro or something) works reasonably enough. I'm very happy with my purchase. Mike.

2002-09-28 09:06:00 | Billy I too bought one of those SONY CD-RW from Advantage am very happy with my purchase. No it doesn't come with NERO but that isn't a major reason not to purchase.

2002-09-28 09:30:00 | Hi Billy, I've just got a Samsung 32-10-40 with Nero 5.5. My first writer, piece of cake, always writes at 32 speed, audio & software. Simple to use, and so fast. No coasters yet. I still don't understand a few things yet--like why when I tried to write some more to a cd after a couple of days, the new stuff I put on shows up in the cd writer but not on my normal cd rom.
