83827 2002-09-27 12:41:00 To date, there have been few problems with this wonderful computer, except . . . !

Most times I connect to the internet (by dialup modem), the machine shows this wonderful blue screen with the comment "a fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:00700400 . The current application will be terminated etc" . At that stage, either IE6 or MS Outlook, as well as the internet connection, will disappear . To be able to reconnect, I have to close down - but the system will not close down properly . All applications will close, but it won't get to the end of the closedown process and I have to turn the machine off . The error message will vary as to address . It is also more likely to happen at connection, though can occur anytime that the internet is connected, and is more likley to happen during the early evening, rather than later (though not always) . Today, for example, during the morning, I was not able to hold the connection to the internet without the application dying .

Any suggestions as to how I can rectify this, as it is driving me spare!

Cheers

83828 2002-09-27 12:49:00 Many possibilities, but unable to get too deep as we don't know what PC it is, what operating system or what modem type etc.

Sorry but the crystal ball is foggy at this time.......wait......I see something.

Click here (support.microsoft.com) for a start, and see if this applies.

83829 2002-09-27 13:05:00 Would it help for me to provide more info about the machine, or am I asking too much, seeing as it looks like there may be many possibilities.

Thanks for the page ref at MS, but it doesn't look like any of these particular errors.

Cheers

83830 2002-09-27 14:17:00 Without the information nobody can help, as you alone know all the critical factors.

What operating system - Windows 95, 98 98SE, 2000, NT, XP ?

Whats the hardware? CPU - Ram - Modem type/model etc

What antivirus, version of Office, etc

The page I gave had links to "0E errors" as a start.
