Hi there,
To upgrade my graphics card from a TNT2 M64, to one of the above, which would be the best to buy, they are both around the same price. I am really looking for the highest framerates only. If anyone has any tips, or personal experinces about these cards I would really appreciate it, or even if there are some similarly priced cards that deliver better performance.
Thanks,
:)

84513 2002-09-29 22:29:00 hmm, it depends what raedon your talking about but really gf4mx's are not very good.... at all. In fact they are hopeless. A bottom of the line geforce 3 beats that hands down, plus some gf2 models.

If you are talking about the Radon 9700 then get it

Lo.

84516 2002-09-30 02:47:00 sounds like a radeon 8500

here's the list of top cards in order of performance.

1. ATI Radeon 9700
2. NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600
3. NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4400
4. NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200
5. ATI Radeon 8500 (should be below a ti200)
6. NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 500
7. NVIDIA GeForce3
8. NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200
9. ATI Radeon 9000 (?)
10. NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 460 (i do not agree, my tests have shown a gf2pro beats it, it's just that 3dmark is a weird app)

This list is based on a PC with AMD Athlon 1.6 GHz CPU.

84517 2002-09-30 03:56:00 Ho, and then you've got all the different brands and models within those ten categories to choose from. :O Susan B (19)
84518 2002-09-30 04:17:00 personally i go with chaintek and leadtek for the gf3 and up. maybe gainward included in the gf3's but not in the 4's.

dunno about gf4mx's tho.

84519 2002-09-30 07:28:00 ooops, sorry, I forgot it is a Radeon 9000 jasezone (1567)
84520 2002-09-30 07:31:00 ok you also forgot you system specs

thats a hard pick anyway

you should go with radeon. better framerates for games. far superior tv-out performance for movies.

gf4mx440 is B.A.D. i was htinking you were talking about the 460.

try the radeon 8500 over the 9000 anyway

84521 2002-09-30 09:22:00 umm MoNK what's so B.A.D about the gf4mx440??

When they first came out they were much better value than the MX460.
