84455 2002-09-29 11:03:00 I'm getting resets occurring after logging on to Windows XP though sometimes it runs without any problems at all. We're suspicious that it may be a power management related problem. The event log has some clues - if the computer has reset itself and I check the event log I find that on start up there are always these 4 system errors listed:

AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address (0x21), which lies in the 0x20 - 0x21 protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.

AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO port address (0x21), which lies in the 0x20 - 0x21 protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.

AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address (0x4d1), which lies in the 0x4d0 - 0x4d1 protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.

Does anyone know what might be going on? And any possible fixes?

The system is XP Home Edition SP1 (though the problem occurred before SP1), Celeron 500, Jetway 993 motherboard with latest version Award BIOS.

84456 2002-09-29 11:25:00 Your BIOS is not compatable with XP.

Look here (www.microsoft.com) for more info.

You may need to check to see if Jetway have released a new BIOS update, and if so re-flash it.
