| 84351 | 2002-09-29 05:03:00 | Read the Mag. - tried the CD. Knoppix loaded from CD OK, except that my 5year old monitor [IBM 2248] runs out of scan speed - I get 3 images across the screen. Checking back in windows, I find it will run 800x600, which I use normally, also 1024x728 - but won't handle the 1280x1024 which I suspect Knoppix uses. And I can't see enough on the distorted screen to fix it within the session. Looking through the CD, it seems it might be possible to make a boot floppy which sets the screen speed at boot-up, but I'm not sure how - any ideas out there ? Thanks |

There will most likely also be a program called rawrite.exe which you use to create the floppy images. The problem you are haing is more likely to be with your video card rather than the monitor. A quick check of the Knoppix FAQ suggest a possible work-around by tyoing fb800x600 rather than knoppix at boot-up. Sorry I can't be of more help, but I don't have knoppix. |

With knoppix, it would appear this trick is not entirly useful :( |
