| 84202 | 2002-09-28 12:49:00 | To all those who have had a problem trying to shut Windows down and having your computer restart instead. A lot of replies suggest disabling the fast shutdown option by making changes to the registry. If you are like me and terrified of making an error in the registry then here is an alternative that I found. Click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information. Click the Tools tab then System Configuration Utility. On the General tab click Advanced then check/tick the Disable Fast Shutdown. Click Ok. Restart when prompted. This worked for me and I hope it works for any one else. |

| 84203 | 2002-09-28 14:09:00 | Hi... Worked for me too recently (by disabling fast shutdown). Then added more RAM (64MB to 380MB), re-enabled fast shutdown, and startup & shutdown hanging disappeared... |
