| 84415 | 2002-09-30 21:26:00 | Mike: I do watch the news (nearly) every night but that's not to say I always listen to all of it. I don't like rugby league. :D vk_dre: SY's history goes back a little before my time here so I missed half of the drama. Apparently he was asking questions on how to do the impossible, ie overclock his PC WAY beyond its capabilities. Someone else will fill you in on the gory details but to cut a long story short we eventually found out that he was only a kid, 12 years old and not even in high school. His exasperating behaviour was then forgiven and he gained a bit of patience and respect from us. Unfortunately there are a lot of similarities between SY and Tim Yang/teachme, eg same age, same surname, very similar style of writing, very persistant nature, etc etc. The major difference is that SY wasn't rude or abusive towards other people like Tim Yang is and that's why we are having difficulty believing that SY is actually Tim Yang. However, in "SY's" great comeback thread he is talking so much like TY (abusing Baldy) that it's hard NOT to believe that SY isn't TY. Or that TY is impostering SY after researching SY's threads in the archives. Whatever, the old SY from last year was a bit of a character that we were rather fond of once we got to know him. |

| 84417 | 2002-09-30 23:18:00 | I had a Heart that was overclocking for a while there. Very uncomfortable, wasn't so much Beating as Fluttering. I can imagine how a computer would get upset!!! Poppa John. | Poppa John (284) | ||
| 84418 | 2002-10-01 00:03:00 | >>>but exactly who is sy? is he a famous overclocker or something? How did he get his reputation for being an overclocker? I could dig some old threads (or remains of them) if you like? Basically SY came along wanting to overclock his P75. He got told by most (if not all) that it would really be a waste of time for the performance gain. But he persisted. So we gave him some links and told him to do some googling and he overclocked it a bit. Then a bit more. Also well known for his first post of the millenium (I think it was that year). He just managed to beat me to it. I managed to dig up this but there aren't any replies the forum must have lost them. :( Hi, I have a pentium 75 cpu but wish to overclock this, and i donot know how. I also have 32MB ram. What do i do to make it 100? 133? 150mhz? (if possible) Please help as this is urgent!!! Do i need to make changes to the bios or the hardware? Please!!! And I mean without buying a new cpu!!! Thanks!!! Here (pressf1.co.nz) is some more. Just don't reply to it though. Last thing we need is old threads at the top. ;) |

I remember SY posting those New Year threads and I don't think I've been back here that long . I'm sure I only came back before last Christmas? Or was it the Christmas before? Crikey, I'm going senile already! :O |

I'm sure I only came back before last Christmas? Or was it the Christmas before? I think I may have got that wrong. I quick look in my cupboard and it is Nortons 2002 that I have. So it wasn't that long ago that the first post of the year was. |
