Maybe i am wrong on that one, as Gorela's post appeared when i posted that and suggested the same thing(gee it took me that long to type that up:8}) but i am like Gorela couldn't find that setting on this machine either to check but thought it would affect I.E too??? |

2002-09-30 10:55:00 | There are two idle disconnect settings but I doubt if they are causing this problem. One is for the Dialup connection and the other for Internet Explorer. Start/Connect to/Show all connectons Right click ISP connection and click Properties Click on Options Idle time before hanging up can be selected here. With IE open select Tools/Internet Options Select Connections Tab Select Settings (Under Add, Remove) Click Advanced near the bottom There are disconnect if idle and Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed check boxes. Incidently these are the boxes to check if you want a prompt to appear if you want a reminder to disconnect when closing IE When you are in OE I presume you are getting all your mail OK and it is not a server timeout. What were you doing in OE when the disconnect happened, were you sending or just reading messages. I could be that the hang up after send/receive although unticked has got itself locked in to this account. When you have any problems with your mail it is a good first step to delete the mail account (note all the settings in properties first) and set up a new one as they can get corrupted. After deleting the account in Tools/Accounts select Add/Mail and follow the wizard.

2002-10-02 10:25:00 | If web sites are working OK with IE and getting no disconnects it will not be a phone line/modem related problem. | Jim B (153) | |
2002-10-02 19:40:00 | Hi Jim - Thanks for that - I felt the same way, and can't work out why it would be doing that. She has a new 1.8mhz machine and she has had Mr Telecom man out and that was his verdict. I've given up!! | Chooky (1401) | |
2002-10-02 20:18:00 | Check this. With OE open select Tools/Accounts Click on Properties Select Connections Tab Tick the box - Always connect to this account using Select the ISP connection in the box underneath Apply and OK
