84574 2002-09-30 02:17:00 The computer has this message:

"Invalid directory
Missing Himem.sys;
Make sure that the file is in your Windows directory and that its location is correctly specified in your confid.sys file."

I've had a look under windows directory and the file is there.

So I typed: "edit config.sys" but didn't see the himem.sys file there. What should I do now? Can anyone help please?

84575 2002-09-30 02:29:00 It sounds like your config.sys file on C:\ is specifying a location for a file (probably himem.sys) that doesnt exist. Correct the path to himem.sys in the config file, then you will get rid of the directory error and it will find himem.sys.

If in doubt, post back with exactly what is in config.sys and where on your C: drive himem.sys actually is

84576 2002-09-30 02:42:00 I saw the "himem.sys" file after I typed in C:dir /windows /p but when I typed in "edit config.sys" there was nothing there - what does that mean?

84577 2002-09-30 03:18:00 Thanks for your suggestion . I've just re-read again . Perhaps my next question is How can I get the "himem . sys" file back into "config . sys"?

Still needing further help . Thank you .

84578 2002-09-30 03:45:00 Firstly go Start - Run -type sysedit enter

Close all but the config.sys pages and copy and paste the content of config.sys here.

The reason you saw nothing when you looked before will be thet you were not looking in the root directory?

Hard to advise what you need to do without knowing what you have now.

84579 2002-10-02 06:20:00 Thanks. Problem now fixed. It was my friend's computer (using windows 3:11). I ended up reloading Dos 6:22 followed by Windows 3:11 again. K.Faleatua (2079)
