84482 2002-09-29 11:19:00 Go to Control Panel-Multimedia, and check the show volume control on the task bar box. That should work :) Terry Porritt (14)
84483 2002-09-29 11:20:00 control panel/multimedia tick "show volumecontrol on taskbar".

however this should have nothing to do with sound card not installing.

what sound card and whats the problem with it?

84484 2002-09-29 11:20:00 But not showing the vol control wouldnt stop the soundcard installing would it? Terry Porritt (14)

84487 2002-09-29 11:53:00 hah ok here goes .
1/ crashed
2/ deleted all via dos - with deltree
3/ reinstalled
4 loaded sbcard but no go - noticed taskbar mt of vol ctl icon
(happened b4 and it just wont load without it )
5/ unticked the vol ctl in mmedia options
6/ restarted
7/ re ticked the Vol Ctl in mmedia and restarted
no joy
reinstalled Sb Card - - - no good and uninstall same again
8/ extracted sndvol32 to tmp and copy past it into windows 98
repeated as above re sbcard / mmedia tick etc 3 times
but no good - - it just wont show up in the taskbar

it is a Creative AudioGy card and is VERY fussy - it just wont load properly unless windows has sound already from it pnp which of 'cos it hasnt

hope this helps ......... Peter

84488 2002-09-29 11:59:00 did you install motherboard drivers?

does the audigy card have its own volume control applet?

84489 2002-09-29 21:36:00 Thanks tweaky for ur replys

nope didn do any drv install at all 4 the M/board - no need to do that as all i did was deleted win and reinstalled it - win is suposedly to take care of its own drvs with the pnp
drvrs 4 M/board as such have been unaltered -except 4 the vid card which has its own and installs afterwards
dont know about the Audigo- all i know is each time i install it the msg comes up ..... bla bla not installed properly ,plz re install and no sound comes thru cos of it - nor did it ever installed the taskbar Vol icon - it always was there prior to the sound card install.
