2002-09-29 08:07:00 | I have always used IE for my browsing. I have oft been tempted to switch to a non-MS alternative as I have had their virtues extolled many times. I actually like IE's interface, but have decided to give Mozilla a try (Opera doesn't do it for me). Now, I quite like the look of Mozilla (1.1) but have a few queries. 1. The back and forward buttons on my 5-button mouse don't work. In IE they replace the forward and back buttons of the browser. If I can't get these working, then back to IE I go as they have become a necessity over the 10 months I have had the mouse. 2. Can I get a Mozilla version of the Google bar. This is another surfing essential. 3. Are additional themes for Mozilla available for download anywhere?? Cheers, much appreciated. G P

2002-09-29 08:18:00 | OK, I have answered two of my own questions. I have found google bar for Mozilla, and I have found some Mozilla themes. I still can't get the mouse buttons to work, and I would like to have buttons available on a toolbar ayt the top to enable history, etc. Any idea how to do this?? Cheers G P

2002-09-29 08:25:00 | Hi Graham I used Netscape7 for a few weeks, but have reverted back to IE5.5 Although NS might be a little quicker, find I IE a little easier to use

My only gripe is that with Mozilla if you have multiple tabs open. You use CTRL+W to close a tab. If you hit CTRL+Q it exits the program same with ALT+F4. This is with no warning. |

2002-09-29 08:48:00 | I have two other questions: 1. Still with the mouse!! 2. I am having trouble editing the personal toolbar. I can't seem to add icons to it!! 3. When opening links from pressf1 emails it opens a new instance of Mozilla. I want it to load the link in the already open window as it does with IE. If I can get these things sorted, I may be a convert, otherwise it's back to IE. G P

2002-09-29 08:58:00 | Go to Preferences again and under Advanced Scripts and Windows is an option to stop a new window opening. Requires Mozilla restart. I'll quickly post this as I was a bit slow with the last one!

2002-09-29 09:05:00 | I have already done this Gorela. It opens because it is a "requested" window i.e. I clicked a link. In explorer, it will load the link in any open window. In mozilla, it opens a new window when a link in Outlook is clicked. I am thinking Mozilla is not good enough yet as the personal toolbar is very buggy. Some items don't delete until you do a restart of the browser, some don't create at all. Some delete the coresponding item in the bookmarks (No warning - vey dangerous, and easy to do with a slip of the mouse - goodbye bokmark!!!) Won't let me reload my IE bookmarks. Oh, well - it seems that MS has got at least one piece of saoftware right, at least in terms of UI even if not in terms of security. G P

2002-10-01 06:36:00 | I uninstalled the mouse utility - I like to have as little running in the background as possible. If I have to start adding utilities here, and installing otheres there, it's not worth it, but thanks for the tip anyway. G P
