| 84330 | 2002-09-29 03:30:00 | I have three PC's networked together, all running winXP. I recently noticed that there is a hidden share on the root of the c: This hidden share can be accessed by all the other computers on the network, and is present on all three. (It is accessed by typing //computer-name/c$/) This gives read/write access to all files on my computer whether I want to or not. I can't disable the share, as Windows tell me it has been set up for administrative purposes. What I would like to know is: Is there a way to disable it, or lock it down such that no other users on the LAN can access it? Is there a way to access it via the internet? I can use //IP address/c$ as well, but I cannot test it as I have no access to an unsecured connection to test it with. Cheers Craig. |
