84973 2002-10-01 07:24:00 I've got 2 networked pcs (call them pc1 and pc2) at home that run 2000. pc1 has an internal adsl and norton 2001 firewall on it. I've config'd sharing for the adsl and with the firewall off, internet etc works fine for both pcs. The problem I have is that if I define the IP address for pc2 so that the firewall knows where the packets are coming from, I then can't get to the internet from pc2. Its something to do with 2000 and IP settings. The help says that the network card on pc2 must be set to automatic detect of IP settings but this is useless for the firewall as the IP address changes every time the system starts up hence the firewall blocks the comms. I've followed the advice from Nortons but this did not work. Any ides in regards to network settings and 2000? allanl (1957)
84974 2002-10-01 07:30:00 You need a NAT setup so that data knows which PC to go to. One PC needs to be running something like Wingate.
I had the same setup with a satellite. One PC was running straight. The other two PC's accessed the Net using Wingate client.
