85607 2002-10-03 00:43:00 Hi i have a dual boot system with winxp pro and win98se.
On XP, everything works just fine, (except the canon MPC20 printer, which according to canon there will never be a driver for XP (Thumbs down, Canon)) anyway, on 98se neither the speakers nor the modem will work. I have tried to find a driver on my windows CDs , on my hard drive, and on the net for 98se but no luck. I dont exactly know what company my modem was made by, but it came with the PC, a compaq.
My speakers are JBL Platinum series, (also came with the PC) fed by an integrated sound card. The system is a Compaq 3200, and the 'product code' is 3BW310. It is really annoying because i have just got a speech to text thingie, that wont work on XP, so someone i know said it works on 98se. and since the sound and microphone dont work on 98se, im stuffed. AND, to make things worse, the company that made the speech to text program wont offer any support (the cabbages) because they0 have gone bankrupt!!!
So PLEEASE help me on this!
Thank you very much

85608 2002-10-03 01:16:00 If you tell us what the modem type is, you may get assistance. It will only require a driver, as will the motherboard chipset for the audio. godfather (25)
85609 2002-10-03 01:20:00 Get your audio drivers here (www.intel.com)

The web say you have Intel 810 chipset, this is the intel download site for the Win 98 drivers.

Modem will require some info from you though.

85610 2002-10-03 01:41:00 Thanks a lot! And yes i do have the intel 810 chip set.
The only info i can find about my modem is:
Compaq data fax modem
oh it says in the modems properties box under the diagnostics tab:
Hardware ID PCI\VEN_14F1&DEV_1033&SUBSYS_02C013E0&REV_08
If thats any help!!
Thanks again

85611 2002-10-03 01:44:00 That site you posted for me is for a graphics driver for the 810 chipset but i have no problems with my graphics in 98se. And, i already downloaded a driver for 98se from there if i hadnt i would only be able to use black and white or 256 colours!! (YUK) But ill try it any way
Thanks

85612 2002-10-03 03:12:00 Audio driver is here (www.pine-support.com)

Try the generic 56k soft modem or win modem or PCI modem driver that comes with your version of windows, cant remember what its called.

If you could get the makers name and model (it will be on the modem probably) you could go to the website and get the correct driver.

When you want this stuff, just type what you want into a search engine such as www.google.co.nz. In this case 810 drivers audio would give you hundreds of choices as to where to get it from.

You shouldn't tell people that, godfather. It's detrimental to your reputation. :D

It beats me, it takes more effort to post here than a 10 second look on Google but still happens almost everytime.
