I have a Fujitsu 7200 RPM 40GB HDD as well as my old HDD which is a Seagate 5200 RPM 6.2GB - probably 100 DMA.
Think the Fujitsu is a 133 DMA but can't be sure.

Is there any benefit in buying/installing a HDD controller such as Promise PCI Ultra DMA133 Adapter? What benefits if any could I expect.

TIA

Ron

85259 2002-10-02 03:56:00 please find the exact model number (usually written on motherboard) as there are a few different 7zx models. some only have ata66 while the others have ata100. if yours has ata66 then an faster ata controller would boost the performance. if its a ata100 then theres not much to gain unless you do a lot of cd burning(put cd drive on seperate ide ports) tweak'e (174)
