85815 2002-10-03 20:45:00 Does anyone know where I can find a list of the command line switches for Windows Media Player? I'm using WMP9, but I doubt they'd have changed much from WMP8.

Or at least can someone tell me what "/prefetch:1" means, as this is in the shortcut on my quicklaunch bar (in Win XP).

Thanks

Mike.

85817 2002-10-04 23:33:00 Prefetching Win Media Player before you start it minimises the time it takes to begin presenting media when a start is called.

i.e. it loads the media at the same time, however while that would work when its called from "open with" or by auto-open, I dont see how it could from a shortcut, it doesnt know what media to load (unless its a default one)

My guesses, as you are impatient!

85818 2002-10-04 23:36:00 Well that's the default shortcut, but it doesn't load any media at startup... or does it? :)

thanks for your reply GF, but please stop posting - I'm trying to reach 1000 before you get to 2000 LOL :D J/K

85819 2002-10-05 00:16:00 Well mine does, it loads WindowsMedia.com, so guess it makes the request at the same time as its asked to open.

Mine doesnt seem to make any time difference with switch in or out, but as I am on Jetstream and connection is always on I may not notice.

85820 2002-10-05 00:22:00 Mine doesn't load WindowsMedia.com - I switched that off, so it can't be that...

but then it does start playing a song on startup, but it's a different song every time. I wonder...
