86187 2002-10-04 22:18:00 Hello again,
Could someone please tell me how to create a partition for the linux swap file on a 15gig hard drive that only has one main big partition, the Hard drive is empty and formatted so I don't mind losing and data. Whenever I start knoppix, It says that I don't have enough RAM, and that it will try and create a swapfile on a partition, then it says that there are no dos partitions avaliable. What settings do I have to use under fdisk in DOS.
Thanks,
Jasezone

86188 2002-10-05 07:30:00 How much RAM do you have? It might be easier to get a decent amount of memery to start with. It isn't too expensive and it will work a lot faster than virtual memory. Rod ger (316)
86189 2002-10-05 10:29:00 Can Knoppix see the drive? If so, then you might need to try reformatting the drive, as if it can't see any DOS partitions, it may not be formatted properly, else it might be formatted in NTFS rather than FAT (if that makes a difference).

86191 2002-10-06 01:55:00 There is a Knoppix Forum (www.linuxtag.org). Other useful links: Knoppix FAQ (download.linuxtag.org), and Knoppix cheatcodes (download.linuxtag.org). Graham L (2)
