UT2003 has a hidden vehicle that is driveable and here's how you activate it: Press the tilde key (`) and type "open vehicledemo" - without the quotes To get the vehicle to appear you need to run over this funky little hand painted switch. Near the switch you'll see a very small vehicle hanging in mid-air....this is where the vehicle will drop drown from once you run over the switch. To mount the vehicle press the "U" key and to dismount use the Space key..... You can have up to two vehicles I believe and I don't know whether you can set up an Internet connection to play against someone else in this mode either. If you find a way let me know! You can fire rockets too! You can catch some screenshots of the vehicle here (www.ut2003news.com). Backed by record labels and music retailers, a host of subscription download services have been hatched over the past year to tap into the consumer craze of downloading music. The program will be open only to European Web users. Consumers who register on one of the six participating sites will get $7.90-worth of digital music to sample or burn. DrvImagerXP version 2.0 released Version 2.0 of DrvImagerXP has been released for download. There's no word from the website on the changes, but this program is worthy of the download as it makes a good alternative to Drive Image Pro. Here's the word on the program: Freeware DrvImagerXP creates and restores drive images of FAT32 and NTFS partitions for the Windows2000/XP operating systems. It makes backups of your partitions, but does not copy file-by-file, it doesn't know anything about files!. It creates a mirror image (but not reversed) of a partition by copying the sector bytes on the partition. And it does this very fast! You can create images of different operating system setups and swap them out in just minutes! Here's a juicy bit from the guide: Red Hat has finally created a DVD version of their distribution for US consumers. (They've had one in Europe for a while, I understand.) For 8.0, though, it seems that you have to buy RedHat 8.0 Professional to get the DVD, and RedHat is not presently offering an ISO image of the DVD for download. After reading some of the anaconda source code, I have figured out how you can make your own DVD from the CD ISO images. I've done this, written it to a DVD+RW disc, had it pass its Media check, and successfully installed from it. This makes for a great alternative to having to use 3 CD's. (www.microsoft.com) The History of Ping Here's a treat for all you techno buffs out there and a bit of history for those who are just interested: The Story of the PING Program: "Yes, it's true! I'm the author of ping for UNIX. Ping is a little thousand-line hack that I wrote in an evening which practically everyone seems to know about. :-) I named it after the sound that a sonar makes, inspired by the whole principle of echo-location. In college I'd done a lot of modeling of sonar and radar systems, so the "Cyberspace" analogy seemed very apt. It's exactly the same paradigm applied to a new problem domain: ping uses timed IP/ICMP ECHO_REQUEST and ECHO_REPLY packets to probe the "distance" to the target machine. My original impetus for writing PING for 4.2a BSD UNIX came from an offhand remark in July 1983 by Dr. Dave Mills while we were attending a DARPA meeting in Norway, in which he described some work that he had done on his "Fuzzball" LSI-11 systems to measure path latency using timed ICMP Echo packets. In December of 1983 I encountered some ......... " You can read the rest here (ftp.arl.army.mil). Developer of DEAMON Tools says "forget about doing 1:1 backups" The developer of DEAMON Tools has posted information on CDfreaks forum regarding the latest SecuROM versions. The developer says that with the new version of SecuROM it's impossible to copy some of the latest games. here's a slice of the pie he has written: The Latest version of Securom CANNOT be copied on usual media just like other protections of this style (CDCOPS etc.). PERIOD. Forget about 1:1 copy in a traditional way! The glass master used to produce original SecuROM disc has unsteady physical parameters along the spiral track containing data sectors. Securom loader verifies these parameters and checks that they are indeed changing along the track which is not the case on your '1:1' copy. You cannot copy it on usual media because usual CD-R/RW has consistant chacteristics all over the disc (track pitch etc) and its parameters are different than parameters of the master.
