| 1316093 | 2012-12-04 22:23:00 | Why not?? You got 4 years out of it and these days for a laptop that's not too bad. I bought my wife a Toshiba about 4 years ago and it's still going fine compared to the IBM, HP and Compaq that she has had over the years all of which have had some major problem within the first 2~3 years. At work we have given up on the HPs, Compaqs and Lenovos as they all have short lives and have gone to tosh. I have a new Toshiba C850. Seems to go well.. We have 8 HPs, some over 5 yrs (NX6320) still going strong, but thats the difference between enterprise and consumer class... |

| 1316097 | 2012-12-05 03:27:00 | My advice, depending on what you want it for is to avoid chain stores for tech gear (unless they have decent sale on, even then... be careful!) The reason being is the quality + price for the goods is usually rip off. Noel lemming isn't *that* bad though. I usually check out products on the international market but Asus is fairly uniform across the board (HP are awful, their NZ site doesn't even work and it's 2x as expensive in NZ at it is in the US) although there are a few models missing from their NZ site. Once you choose a model be sure to check pricespy or the likes to compare prices. I got my laptop for $1500 from itxpress, current time it retailed for around $2000 instores. That being said it would have cost $1200 from that states, incl shipping and GST. Try these out for size from the asus lineup at computerlounge: www.computerlounge.co.nz www.computerlounge.co.nz This one has a touchscreen (very nice for windows8) - www.computerlounge.co.nz If you liked the look of that touch lappy try this out, comes with Office on it so you save a bit there, won't run normal windows apps though, so maybe not - www.computerlounge.co.nz Also this - www.computerlounge.co.nz These aren't all out there, just a few from one site. |

I had one bought in with tyre marks on it. Apparently as they were putting it into the back of the SUV, it fell out and got run over. Several times. Tut but I couldn't prove anything, other than it sure was damaged and did have the tyre marks on it. |

The same thing happened to my daughters 3 year old Compaq, PS. Don't get Windows 8. |
