1291755 2012-07-31 05:51:00 Yeah - Beaucoup dead people in car accidents aren't the only concern though. I see so-o-o many people ejected from their cars / trucks here since they refuse to wear seatbelts.

Then they get ejected and the vehicle they were riding in is their coup d'état.

I also see kids heads bopping up and down in cars so you KNOW they aren't in child seats or wearing belts either. Strange - to me anyway - is that a driver can load a whole softball team of kids in the back of a pickup truck and drive down the highway and it's not illegal.
It sure is illegal in NZ now pax in back of trucks.. Switzerland and Finland have guys doing mass shootings and they are normally considered the worlds goody goody two shoes

1291761 2012-07-31 07:18:00 The Democrats can flag me as much as they want, bunch of anti gun tossers. prefect (6291)
1291762 2012-07-31 09:46:00 Prefect is probably pretty safe as far as his neighbourhood is concerned. He would have a Ford gun fired by Lucas. About the only person that would be around by the time he got a shot off would be a Swiss Postman delivering the Y2K warnings. ;) R2x1 (4628)
1291763 2012-07-31 15:31:00 Here and now I'm amiss to not tell of MY gun stance .

I like guns - mechanically and function-wise they are intriguing and I love the feel of firing them . I don't feel everyone should own them - but I cannot see how a fair and equitable process of delineation for the YEA or NAY vote for them on an individual basis can be accomplished .

Crazy people are all shaded into each and every one of us and although I am totally sure that I'm OK, it's the collective about which I worry . Make that: concerned .

A short story (yeah - 'short' is the operative here):::

After I came out of the US Navy, I applied for- and was tested and passed the standards to be an Orange County (California) Deputy Sheriff .

I passed all the book n' learnin' tests and was about to start in the next physical set as a trainee in the academy boot camp when the responsibility of carrying a weapon began to tug my morality anchor: I didn't want the responsibility of possibly shooting a person .

I went to the academy commander and told him of my concerns and that I didn't think I could hold that much responsibility . He was very thankful that I came to him with that message now, as some guys go through the whole (expensive) training course for the requisite twenty weeks and THEN they quit for about the same reason as I was; dropping out .

I have never pointed- nor pulled the trigger on/at any person - even in my military service - and I want to keep it that way . I know it changes a person radically to have had that experience .

Perhaps a conundrum and paradoxically so, I like me the way I am now .
