| 1291859 | 2012-07-31 03:26:00 | Anyone happen to have any unused Film SLR's they are willing to sell, or even better Lenses to fit Nikon DSLR's? The reason I ask is I managed to drop my 18-55mm zoom which is now a tad sticky when turning through the full focal range, also focus is a bit soft. The front element is probably misaligned now, which means this is likely to be an expensive fix, looking to see if I can get away with finding a replacement or another lens. I cant afford to buy (or rather buy a decent one) new. As for film cameras, I have a Minolta XG-2 but no lenses to suit only a 35mm prime, also having only one roll of film available to shoot is a bit dicey. Looked on ebay for cameras but finding a nice deal on a working piece that doesn't cost more than a million bucks to ship to NZ is a bit of a mission. If anyone happens to know/recommend any camera repairers around welly other than WPS it would be appreciated. I would DIY but it's a very small and complex lens and I dont want to risk further costly damage. Thanks TEG |

I have found another place to develop my C41 film. My E6s gets exported to the US, incredibly expensive here. I have a spare Nikon F50 if you want it. Comes with manual and a battery. I bought a lens with it and it came with it. I already have a F100 and a FM2N. I don't have any lenses as spare. For repair, look on Flickr at the Wellington group. There is a repair dude in Miramar or Petone I think which people recommend. |

Price wise they are like most central Wellington stores, a little bit pricey but not unreasonable. Never used them for developing since I do all my B&W in my own darkroom facility at keale. A whole school darkroom to myself 24/7 since I'm the only chemical photographer :D How much would you want for the F50? And I'm assuming it's body only? Will check out that flickr lot too, hopefully they lead to something. Cheers |

| 1291862 | 2012-07-31 05:20:00 | The F50 - you can just have it. Just glad someone gets to use it. :) Body alone. No lens cap cos the seller didn't give me one, he just attached the lens to it. I find WPS very expensive. Chch's Photo and Video is better but things like cable releases and filters are very expensive still. WPS nowadays don't have a lot of stuff in the display shelves. You cannot even get to play with a intermediate level camera and a lot of the film you had to order them in. I thought they had some expertise so just asked them about a filter. Re: some colour casts. I just asked them if that was normal from their experience. They told me to contact the shop I got it from. and that they don't have time. If they cannot address you I think, they don't reply emails IME. And one time, Kodak discontinued some slide film. So I rang them and I said Chch sell for that price, they said they could match it. Fantastic. 2 weeks gone past and they withdrew their offer and didn't even order it. Photo Warehouse has more stuff in display and a greater selection. www.flickr.com |
