1291670 2012-07-30 16:51:00 I've always enjoyed Wodehouse, H . Allen Smith, James Thurber, Steve Allen and of course: Mark Twain (Samuel Longhorn Clemons) and since I got my E-reader (Nexus7) I've been hitting the books again for entertainment and re-reading a lot of the classics that I read during my salad years .

One such book is Mark Twain's 'Roughing It' which is free on Google Play .

Just search for it and you can get a download of the whole scanned author's copy from the US Library of Congreff .

His prose is, well: prosaic and his skill of putting to paper the things which impressed him are bountifully rife with humor (NZ= humour) .

I'm still looking for a scanned copy of 'Kentucky Gentleman' by him; it's somewhat more risque than Lady Chatterley's Lover, of the same era and was banned for years and relegated to the 'under the librarian's desk' for check out .

Modern sensibilities aren't so-riled, and now it's become a blasè if not laughable and self-abusive tome of parochially inflicted ne'er-do's for the Unmarried and Überchaste .

If youse guys want a slice-o-life experience concerning the Wild West and journeys through it by a well-crafted author of some notoriety this is a great book to read . He's just contrary enough to warm the cockles of any NZers's heart .

Here's a site with several versions of that same book::: . gutenberg . org/ebooks/3177" target="_blank">www . gutenberg . org
