| 1291154 | 2012-07-27 23:27:00 | I sent my old HP laptop to replace the faulty LCD screen (with a used panel) last week, when I got it back home only to find that the service 'technician' has damaged the bezel very badly - it was broken in 3 different locations - 1 at the left vertical strip, and both of the bottom corners. He must have pulled it out with force. He also did not re-assemble the bezel properly - I had to disassemble and put it properly myself. I could have done it myself if I could find a used replacement screen - a new screen is just tooo expensive for this old laptop - not justifiable. What kind of workmanship is this? Since it is an old laptop, I decided not to blow up the matter. If you were me, will you just accept it? |

Maybe he was pushed for time and just wanted to get it done with too much force and too less wiggling .. It could be that he had to get it done in 30mins? But now that you have pulled it to bits and fixed it, I think you're going to have to accept it. | 1291157 | 2012-07-27 23:59:00 | I decided NOT to go back to them that's why I fixed it myself. I did dissembled it before to confirm that the screen is faulty and the exact part # of the screen. I've been trying to source a compatible used screen for some time but couldn't find one. Actually, it is not very difficult to remove the bezel for this model, just be more gentle in handling it, that's all. It applies to all models, when handling this fragile piece of plastic, right? Anyway, I've now put it back 'correctly' but the broken parts are not reversible, thoguh. What has done cannot be undone! I just wanted to get your views, to make my wife happy. :D Cheers |

Old or not. He should have Public Liability insurance of this sort of thing anyway. Go back, complain. |

| 1291160 | 2012-07-30 02:14:00 | Laptop cases aren't designed for ease of repair. They can sometimes be an b8gger of a thing to open. There are numerous clips that have to be forced apart, its the only way to open them up . We use a plastic wedge for this. Other times there may be double sided tape that just refuses to let go (pretty rare) Sometimes the wee clips just snap off. Just the way it is. The plastic wedge sometimes causes minor damage. Maybee they just didnt remove all the screws before they tried to open it ?? I hope it wasnt the Laptop Repair shop I recommended (via pm) a while back was it ?? |
