86526 2002-10-06 02:40:00 Well, you've tried calling it names. :D

There's a Microsoft thing about this ... I won't copy out the URL: search google.co.nz with "unmountable_boot_volume" -- the 2nd and 3rd matches might help.

86528 2007-08-11 16:46:00 My comp has got the UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME problem. I was playing WoW one day and i accidentley kicked it, it frooze up. So i restarted my comp and the first couple times my screen kept acting up, then when my screen finally started working again this problem occured. It told me to restart so i did. But it kept coming up anyways, i even tried to start it in different ways like safe mode and all that junk, it still wouldnt work. And ive got no new hardware or anything, everything in my comp is at least a year old. Now im stuck using other ppls comp. cause mine wont work still, can somebody please tell me wat to do? And what idiot told you that?
All you had to do was google the BSOD error or ask here in the first place .

Most of the time this is caused by a damaged file system .
Running a Repair Install on it fixes it .

And then I'd do a malware scan on the PC .
.

You kicked your PC?

Right off that says the HDD has potentially been damaged...

Slave it in another PC and see if you can get your data off and then try a repair install of Windows, failing that a full reinstall of Windows.

86532 2007-08-12 06:13:00 I'd go for the HDD. A sharp hit like that could cause massive havoc. The distance between the read/write head and the platter is so so tiny that even a short knock could cause it to gouge the surface. beeswax34 (63)
86533 2007-08-12 09:32:00 I have noted the date on this - but in case people are reading to solve similar problems isn't booting onto recovery console and using the command chkdsk /f worth a try? johnd (85)
