86465 2002-10-05 21:32:00 Does anyone know of any Rental properties websites, for accomodation in rotorua, for general people to rent a property..and for students too...
As i am having no luck really, searching on google.co.nz and searchnow.co.nz it only gives me motorhome rentals, or holiday homes and hotels..

86469 2002-10-06 00:02:00 Try real estate sites eg Harcourts etc, they have rentals. SoniKalien (792)
86470 2002-10-06 00:33:00 Try www.searchnz.co.nz - probably NZ's best local search engine Greg S (201)

Try the public Library.

Chris, you may be best off by finding a listing for boarding hostels from the phone book, and staying there for a week or two. it might cost more, but you can then wander the city and search the papers for accomodation and find somewhere that suits you. Remeber, you don't want to find somewhere that looks good on the net, and then get there and find out it is a slum 10 miles from uni.

So, go there, stay at a backpackers or the like. Get your bearings, and go flathunting.

I am going trough the same process in about four weeks.

I am moving to Auckland, but I have no family etc there. I am going to stay at a backpackers near where I will be working for a week or so until I meet someone I can crash with, or find somewhere to stay.

Then when my girlfriend joins me in January we will go flathunting together - Best solution I think.

They will provide accomodation for as long as you are willing to pay. Don't forget, Rotorua is a tourist spot, and so "holiday" accomodation can get very expensive especially at peak time. This should be considered a temporary solution only.

Also, if you plan on going there in the holiday season (ie December/ January)
then book now as otherwise everything will be booked out by holiday makers, not mention the prices are cheaper if you book in advance.

86474 2002-10-06 05:58:00 For Auckland rentals you could try www.nzherald.co.nz and look under rental properties. Local papers also list rentals but I don't know if they do it on-line as well. Trade and Exchange http://www.trade-exchange.co.nz/ may have some as well.

Some landlords, of course, only list through agents so unless you visit an agent - and pay their fee - you won't see all that's on offer (Also, each branch of a company keeps their rentals to themselves. They don't share around the branches in case they lose commissions).

If you're planning on renting (or renting out a property) a good site to look at is: www.minhousing.govt.nz
This lists all the rules for both tenants and landlords. The "market rent information" link is excellent. Pick your area in NZ and find out how much rentals are going for.
