86827 2002-10-07 10:21:00 We have recently had the unhappy experience of runaway Jetstream usage caused by Kazaa and Morpheus running invisibly in the background without the software being opened. For Kazaa, Kazaa.exe in the process list in XP's task manager was all I could see. I now want to be able to check to reassure myself that all is clear. We have a 3 machine network running XP & 98 & Jetstream via a Nokia M1122 router - is there a way to list any software that is uploading/downloading data - say for the last 24 hours, or even at the present moment? Ideally for all three machines, but one-by-one would also be OK. I can check the Jetstream usage meter, but this does not help me with which machine might be causing a problem, and which software might be associated with that. arlington (2170)

Only 3 machines . . . . visual check of what is installed unless geographical nature precludes this .

86829 2002-10-07 10:39:00 Ethereal (available from www.ethereal.com) is a capable monitor program that will log all traffic on your network if you are using a hub. It will tell you which machine is sending data and where the data is being sent to. The main problem with running it over a 24 hour period would be the size of the file. Gorela (901)
