86687 2002-10-07 02:57:00 I have a new P4 with windows XP home edition. When I log on to OE, type an email, press send, I get disconnected and the email goes into the outbox and is sent when I next log on. The dial up connection box also appears on the screen. Also if I am on the internet and decide to check e-mails when I click on the OE icon I get disconnected and the dial up connection box appears. Frustrating - can anybody tell me how to fix things please.

86688 2002-10-07 03:03:00 Most likely you have the "Hang up after sending and receiving" option turned on in OE. Click on Tools, Options choose the Connection tab and untick the "Hang up after sending and receiving" checkbox. That should fix the problem :) Rod J (451)
86689 2002-10-07 03:11:00 tks for really prompt reply. Don't know much really, but did find the hang up after sending and redeiving box and it does not have a tick in it. Any other suggestions please?

86690 2002-10-07 03:24:00 Mervyn, check to see if both OE and your browser (IE probably) are using the same dial-up settings. If you have 2 instances programmed, thats exactly what will happen. OE gets asked to send or receive, and while taking posession if its dial-up it will disconnect the other application unless they are both using the same one, in which case it should share.

How many settings have you got under "my Network Places - Network Connections. Its under Dial up heading then. Should only be 1

86691 2002-10-07 03:33:00 OK, I did a search on this web site for "OE disconnects" and I came up with this page (pressf1.co.nz). I knew I had recently seen a posting about this problem ... maybe this page will provide a fix, or alternatively click on the SEARCH button at the top of the page and look for another page. This topic/problem has come up on this forum a number of times.

Cheers,
Rod.
