87193 2002-10-08 07:17:00 Read FAQ 1 - button is top right of this window.
No sense in re-inventing the wheel.

For any other version of Windows - call back.

87194 2002-10-08 07:18:00 define what you mean by "nothing"...
REALLY nothing, or a nothing but windows nothing?
I'll assume you want to reformat so that there is "nothing" nothing, and then from there you want to install windows and then whatever other junk you want....
Check that you have a windows CD. If you are using windows currently then you SHOULD have it on CD.
Download drivers for all your hardware (probably just video card and sound). Check if you have directX on cd somewhere (pc world cover CD). If not then download that coz you will want it.
Write down your internet dial up settings, and also consider exporting your address book and favourites and sticking them on a floppy.

That will be all you need for a not much use system, nice and clean for you to install anything you wish.
Check the faq's on this site for how to reformat and install an OS...

Maybe if you explain what you want to do and why you want to do it someone will be able to help.
Have you just been given someone elses computer and you want to get rid of their stuff?
Sorry to ask, but how old are you? by "kid" do you mean like 12 or 13 or something?

87201 2002-10-10 00:52:00 ok then....

for a start, what is your operating system (what version of windows?).
If you don't know, then right click on "my computer" then select "properties".
on the right hand side there should be a list of stuff which tells you what windows you have.

also, what exactly is the "sh*t" that you are trying to get rid of. if it is programs, what are the names?
what download did you try?
how did all the "sh*t" get on there?
