87093 2002-10-08 03:01:00 On a few new motherboards ive noticed some have a new 'slot' ive never seen before.
one is CNR and the other is AMR. Does anyone out there know what they stand for, and what they are for?
thanks

87094 2002-10-08 03:09:00 CNR = Communications / Network Riser
AMR = Audio / Modem Riser

They are alternative standards to the PCI slots. Seem like a waste of time at the moment though.

87096 2002-10-08 03:14:00 AGP = Accelerated Graphics Port
For Advanced 3D display. Now they come in speeds, such as 1x, 2x, 4x, and now 8x!

PCI = Hey, Ya got me there...
