2002-10-09 00:34:00 | I'm hold to Telecom (there's a catch phrase). I can't believe this. I'm on Jetstream Starter hooked up with Xtra. That's 5gigs of international traffic a month -lovely. I've been using the telecom jetstream usage meter to check my usage daily, ensuring I have gone over my limit. Then! I get an email from Xtra saying I'm 500megs and $47 over my limit...! What the *%^$? It's because Xtra's and Telecom dates of billing aren't the same. Bloody incredible. I still can't get over it - modern communications my ass! Because I've been using the Telecom Usage meter to check my running total, I thought I was on a new billing cycle - but not according to Xtra. Xtra doesn't want to know but admit the dates are different by a week. Telecom knows the dates are differnt but it's an Xtra billing charge so there (although I'm still on hold so you never know). Did anyone else know this? I've just suggested to Telecom that they should email *everyone* on Xtra Jetstream warning them of this annomonly (can't be bothered spelling that right and still pi&&ed off). Unbelieveable? Come in PC World - please print a warning in your next issue... I'm still totally in awe of this situation.

2002-10-09 00:58:00 | i can tell u..that doesnt surprise me.. its happened to me before on a flat rate plan..for 56k modem, i received a bill when i returned from australia..and yes it got to my house b4 i returned... and in awesome luck..the bill was due the next day, so i went that day..and paid...but apparently when i got home after paying it..there was a letter from telecom saying i havent paid my bill on time and that they will disconnect me if i havent paid by midnight on this date.....so i left it coz i paid...but i got cut off...and they say they have no records of payments from me...thanks for the recepit books and more :-)..took 2-3 weeks to sort it out...but by then..i told them to disconnect it anyway..bad service and not admitting they were wrong and doing something about it immediately.. Am with QUIK now, and they are brilliant...

2002-10-09 03:36:00 | Thats not all... Xtra are offerering to both host my domain name, and take care of the annual renewal, for one low monthly fee. Presently I pay an even lower monthly fee to Xtra to host it, and an annual fee (just increased) to Domainz for the name rental. If you backwards engineer Xtra price, you find its a whopping 56% markup on the (already increased) Domainz cost. Needless to say, I will stay with annual renewal with Domainz.

2002-10-09 06:47:00 | Hey Baldy Not really - had it two months. First month part month so only 80megs used, then full next month then this (last) month. I rang the Commerce Commision today to discuss this and they said it was as far as they were concerned a breech of the Fair Trading Act and they *would* be taking it futher. The 3 emails I received from Telecom and Xtra when I joined up to JS never mention anything about this wrong billing cycles, nor only checking the Xtra usage meter....so they have not a leg to stand on. The issue really arises because your billing cycle starts from the day it is installed, not from your normal billing cycle. Blow me man why can't they just do a part month and then full from there? Seems far too simple an answer, which is probably why it isn't done...

2002-10-09 07:18:00 | HI David Tempting but I'm on that $99 deal - ISP charges, JS connection and phone line. Seems like a good deal although 10gigs would be better than 5 I'm sure!~
